13 October 2010 Lectus PLC, the UK biotechnology company, has announced plans for a Q4 listing on NewConnect, the alternative market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Lectus PLC, the UK biotechnology company, has announced plans for a Q4 listing on NewConnect, the alternative market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The company is seeking to raise up to PLN 40 mln via a private placement which could be the largest ever raised prior to any listing on NewConnect. “The planned private placement and subsequent listing on NewConnect is the next step in our strategy to finance the development of novel pain treatments identified using our proprietary technology called LEPTICS.” – says Roland Kozlowski, Chief Executive Officer of Lectus PLC., The market which we are targeting is expected to be worth USD 6.5 bln by 2015. Significantly, we have plans to carry out the key phases of research in the LifeScience Park, Poland, managed by Jagiellońskie Centrum Innowacji in Kraków. The Authorized Advisor for the placing is Acadia sp. z o.o. S.K.A. The legal advisor is Bird&Bird Maciej Gawroński sp.k.. Brokerage House AmerBrokers SA will be assisting with the placement. Lectus PLC will be the first biotechnological company from the UK to seek listing on the Warsaw Stock Exchange alternative market. The private placement will start in October and the listing on NewConnect is planned for December this year – says Artur Chabowski, Managing Director of Acadia. “We are impressed with the potential of NewConnect. The recent successful listing of Mabion is also a good indicator of the increasing interest from local investors in the biotechnology sector. This is a positive signal for us going into the private placement” – says Roland Kozlowski. Lectus PLC through its wholly owned subsidiary Lectus Therapeutics Limited has been actively conducting drug discovery research into pain therapeutics since 2006. The company has been supported by European venture capital funds, including Sofinnova Partners (France), and two Japanese pharmaceutical companies which contributed to a total investment of approximately EUR 15 mln to date. “Consistent with our strategy of building shareholder value, funds raised will be used to further develop our pipeline of pharmaceutical assets, in particular the company’s lead asset targeting calcium ion channels will be advanced into regulatory pre-clinical development” said Roland Kozlowski.
