Edwin Moses, PhD

Edwin holds received a first class honours degree in chemistry and a PhD from Sheffield University. His commercial career in the life science industry has included periods in Germany, Italy, UK and now Belgium.

From 1993 to 2000, Edwin was Chief Executive Officer and then Chairman of Oxford Asymmetry International. He started with 4 employees growing to 250, raised ~ £10 million in venture capital and then led an IPO on the London Stock Exchange at a valuation of £120 million. In 2000, Oxford Asymmetry was sold to Evotec AG for £306 million.

During the period 2000-2006, Edwin was Chairman or non-Executive Director of about 15 European private and public companies life science companies. In 2004, he became Chairman of Ablynx nv in Belgium and in 2006 he also took on the role as Chief Executive Officer. Since then the company has raised €40 million from venture capitalists followed by €85 million in an IPO on EuroNext in November 2007 and most recently €50 million in a secondary offering in March 2010. Staff numbers have grown from 50 to 250 and Ablynx has signed collaborative deals worth more than €2 billion in potential milestones with major pharmaceutical companies.

In total, Edwin has led, as chairman or Chief Executive Officer, 4 IPOs, 1 secondary offering, 7 merger and acquisition transactions and has raised over €300 million in his various companies.
